Hygenie has been 2 years climate positive!

It’s an exciting month here at Hygenie, as we are celebrating being Climate Positive for 2 years by being a member of Ecologi

Climate Positive means going a step further than Carbon Neutral, by saving MORE greenhouse gas emissions than you are generating.

Since becoming a member of Ecologi we’ve managed to reduce a whopping 185.8 tonnes of CO2! To put this incredible achievement into perspective, that’s equivalent to…

• 143 long-haul flights or
• 558 metres squared of sea ice saved or
• 461,069 miles driven in a car

During this time, we’ve also contributed to the growth of 2,490 trees, some of which are right here in the United Kingdom, supporting local reforestation efforts.

And it doesn’t end with trees. We’ve also been part of 31 diverse projects that make a real impact on our planet. Some of the most recent projects we have helped to fund include:

• Protecting rainforest in a wildlife sanctuary in Cambodia – This project will prevent the emission of 14,000,000 tCO2e over the first 10 years
• Generating renewable solar electricity in Egypt – This project is avoiding 83,683 tonnes of CO2e emissions each year.
• Avoiding methane emissions from landfill in Brazil – This project is expected to produce 102,579MWh of energy during its lifetime.

Ecologi use membership money (from us and other businesses), to support a broad range of projects that are able to evidence a reduction or avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions.

Each month Ecologi support a range of carbon avoidance projects that are certified at the very highest level by Gold Standard or the Verified Carbon Standard.
